Fishing in Batu Maung, Penang

It has been 2 weeks I dont update my fishing blog. This is mainly due to no fishing trip within this few weeks. Anyway, I've go for fishing trip in Penang again last weekend in Batu Maung. I never ever imagine that there is a fishing place that so close to industrial park. You can fish at any where along the seaside along the way to Batu Maung.

I never fishing at there & very seldom pass there. I dont know what kind of fish can be found there. So, I bring along fresh prawn as my bait. We (me & my wife) stop opposite of Agilent factory, put on the bait as fast as possible & throw the bait as far as possible into deep blue sea.

First gelamah of my life

Very fast, right just after 2 minutes the fishing rod is set up, there is a very soft signal from the other side of deep blue sea. I wait for several second & hit the bait. However, there is too late. It's only an empty hook left. The same signal continue for several times & I'm disappoited for several times without any fish but keep wasting my prawn. Finally, a strong signal come again from the other side & I shoot right after few second. A small gelamah is surrender very easily. That's was so exicited & this is first ikan gelamah in my life. I think I no need to describe here that you also have this experience for all kingfisher.

Biggest gelamah I ever get

After the first ikan gelamah, I was beat by the unknown fish under the deep blue sea. The signal is very soft, i can feel that but I couldn't know when is the best time to fight back. Finally, I feel a stronger signal transfer from my fishing rod. Right after few seconds, I beat it & a 6inches ikan gelamah is surrended & this ikan gelamah become my personal record of my life.

Right after the biggest ikan gelamah, I continue the trip until all prawn finish but I couldn't get any fish. I feel that this is a very good place for fishing. Even though i get only 2 fish, there is a Malay guy not far from me continue get fish. From my observation, he get atleast 15-20fish. The fish that he get include ikan gelamah & ikan pari. The bait that he use is sea worm. He get very popolar respond from the fish using this worm.
