Poo Poo Penang trip
Last holiday during Merdeka Day, my friend came far away from Melaka to visit us, course mate from KUiTTHO, in Penang. We spent few days together & in day 2 I bring them to Penang National Park for hiking while I can enjoy fishing there.

Raining half way to Monkey Beach (click to enlarge)

This is the first time Poo poo visit to Penang National Park. Unluckily, it's raining right after few minutes we start the hiking after breakfast. It become heavier & heavier & everyone of us getting wet soon. We continue until we meet a small hut infront of USM research center. Besides us, there are still around 15 college students cover under there.

Start fishing
Luckily, we wait for about 20minutes, the rain getting stop & we continue our way to Monkey Beach. Anyway, the weather is still looke unstable so I suggest to start fishing first by the beach

At first, only me that fishing there since I'm the only one experienced on that. My friends are just hanging around. But when they see me get the first catch, they start to get excited & join me to fish.

Out of expected, the fish are so excited too. All the bait that i throw into sea will finish very very soon. I think they are so hungry that their actions are so fierce. I get 7~8 fish easily here. Anyway, I dont know the name of this fish. Lastly, before we move to Monkey Beach, I get a big puffer fish. I'm not sure how heavy is it but i feel that it is quite near to my record.

Right after reach Monkey Beach, I start to fish while my friend enjoy their moment in the beautiful scenery. Since I bring only 2 fishing rod there, so only 2 persons that can fishing. I take 1 fishing rod all the time while my friends take turn to use another fishing rod. They are all first timer of fishing but the manage to get the first catch here. Nicholas get a unknown fish, Nicky get a 白鲷鱼 or ikan pipi & puffer fish while Poo Poo get another ikan pipi.

For myself, I also get several unkown fish here. I get a big ikan temenggung 成鱼 (cat fish) here. It give me a big fight. Using my soft Berkley rod, I have to use 5 minutes to surrender an 500g sea cat fish. Anyhow, when i get the fish, the camera is not around so there is no picture is captured.

Actually, i break several personal record again today but I'm not going put into my record book since most of the fish I dont know the name. Anyhow, I really have a great experience here when I manageto get atleast 15fish within 4 hours.

Before leaving ....

Another trip to Malau

Another trip to Malau
Still remember my last post of fishing trip to Malau, Jitra? Again, this post is another fishing post in Jitra to Malau. Last trip, the main target is tilapia, whereas for this trip, we focus on more fish type where we use fresh water prawn in the pool as bait. This pool has been used as fishing competition venue, so there are many kinds of fish can found here include tilapia, lampan, cat fish, snakehead & very strange siakap.

Bait
Orginally, we want to search for worm as bait. For me, worm is the most powerful bait where every kind of fish also love it. Anyway, it is very difficult to get worm during this very hot season. So, we can only catch the prawn from the pool as bait.

Match start
After catch few prawns, we start the fishing. Very soon, my bait attracted one target. This fish start to bite with very soft & politely. Suddenlt, it pull the line with very quick & strong force. Of course, with that it is very easily landed. Out of expected , it is a small ikan lampan. From my extimation, it is only 10~12cm. Anyway, this is my first ikan lampan jawa& certainly it recorded in my personal record. Compare to tilapia, I think ikan lampan is fiercer than tilapia.

Today, we get very great respond from the fish. Very soon, my father side also get a small tilapia. Whereasa for me, another ikan lampan is surrender. This is another type of ikan lampan which I dont know the name at all. Anyhow, until now, we still cannot get larger fish.

My record red tilapia (click to enlarge)

Suddenly, my father quickly take up his fishing rode with very serious face while talking to me. Very soon, a small red tilapia is landed. And this tilapia has become our first red tilapia from this pool. For the following 2 hours, we get very great respond from the fish & most are 10cm ~ 15cm small fish. Most of them are tilapia & some are ikan lampan.

Before go back, we throw our last try. Very soon, my father's bait attract a fish but he miss that. While my side, a sudden force pull my line away & I quickly get respond. Out of expected, a larger red tilapia is landed. Again this red tilapia also recorded in my personal record book. With that, it end today fishing trip.

Tilapia trip @ Malau, Jitra

Tilapia in Malau, Jitra
Malau is located country side of Jitra. It is surrounded by mountain & plantation. There is a housing area surround by a big pond & our today target is tilapia in the unknown pond. Since tilapia is not the main target for those fishing in Jitra, we are very confident in this big pond.

Start the Journey

Of course, tools must be prepare before we start the journey. Since my father is a snake head hunter, he is very hard to find few pcs of suitable hook for tilapia. After that, I go to dig for worm in our backyard. After every thing is ready, we start our tilapia journey to Malau at 2.00pm.

This is not my first time come to this pond but this is my first time to fish tilapia here. It has a very nice view that surrounded by a housing area a jungle.

Without any delay, all of us quickly hook on the worm & start to throw into our target. Anyway, after very long waiting, still none of our bait notice bythe fish. My cousine & uncle start to get bore and talk nonsence. Suddenly, my father stand up & take up his fishing rod. After a short while, a small ikan selat is landed & this is the first catch of the day.

Since that, we start to get bite from the fish. Anyway, all are small little fish with length of only 5~7cm. Suddenlt, my line is pull by a strong force with lighthing speed. I quicky hit it and finally, a bigger tilapia is landed. Contiue by my cousine who landed the biggest tilapia with approx 600g weight.
